  Project Description

Help Line: A telephone line which may be used by people with specific problems in order to contact advisers and counselors who are specifically qualified to deal with them. The Rationale for starting the Help Line is because of the increasing isolation and neglect of older persons and the consequent need for professional assistance and to ensure availability of services on telephone.

HelpAge Help line will provide for Senior Citizens: The decision to set up a separate unit to address these issues was taken in the wake of increased isolation and neglect of older persons in the city. Support is sought from Delhi Police, Legal and Security experts and other service organizations. The Helpline services are available to elders within Delhi city limits on all weekdays. At HelpAge Help Line we are using computer software for maintaining and updating information & maintaining caller’s record in a systematic and organized manner. Secondly we are using telecom equipments for coordinating and recording conversations with experts and volunteers.

  Goal

To establish a nationwide network of ‘Help-Lines’ to facilitate all senior citizens, through the provision of assistance and information.

  Objectives

To provide social, economical, legal and financial counseling to the Delhi senior citizens as and when required.

The primary objectives of the help line service are:
1. Information Services: Health care Facilities
2. Counseling: Trauma, Individual and Family
3. Active and Reflective Listening: Sharing Concerns of Lonely Older Persons or Older Persons with Difficulties
4. Distress Intervention: Providing Relief to Older Persons in Cases of Abandonment and Abuse
